The UK branch of Fedrigoni has this week launched their “Environmental Range” - their portfolio of environmental papers are to be showcased. This comes as Antali launches their Greener paper.

Shenton said: “As suppliers, we know that protecting our customers’ reputation is one of the most valuable services we can offer.
“However, dealing with the sometimes complex details can be time-consuming and confusing.
“Fedrigoni has a continuing policy of highlighting its commitment to safeguarding and protecting the environment.”
American paper manufacturer Smart Papers have revealed this week they are considering plans to distribute their product in Europe. The competition in the UK paper market is expected to increase with this news.
The company has revealed they are expecting to have a UK representative in the next 90 days, piling on the pressure for existing paper manufacturers in the UK.
Tim Needham, Smart Papers chairman, said: “We are building global brands and our strategy is that we will be in the markets where our customers want us to be.”
The company manufactures over 20 different brands of printing papers including triple cast-coated and matt-coated product lines.
“We don’t see an overcapacity in those types of papers. We realise we have a lot of very fine competitors in the UK and European marketplace, but we feel we can cut out a niche.”
Pop (Point of Purchase) Displays have recently acquired the commercial printer Rapide for an undisclosed takeover bid.
Pop Displays is in the same group of companies as Easypack and after taking over the 13 staff strong Rapide they will merge together also following a revamp of the facilities. Rapide, based in Norfolk, with their 13 staff had an annual turnover of £800,000 before they were taken over in April. The new owners are building a 1,000m2 warehouse at Mildenhall in Suffolk. There they will house Rapide’s existing pre-press equipment.
Easypack group chief executive Chris Hall said he had no plans for further acquisition over the rest of the year. “We will consolidate for 12 months,” he said.
The Easypack group enjoy supplying their clients (which include Tesco, Asda, and Burton’s Foods) with corrugated cases and point-of-sale packaging as well as pre-filled display units. Their annual turnover is a combined £6.5 million.
With the current media frenzy showcasing the needs for recycled paper and highlighting the impacts of the human race on the Earth if nothing is done now and we continue in our current ways without any change. It is no surprise companies are trying their very best to be seen as a ‘Green’ companies. Well Antalis have done it this week as they launch a new coated art paper that is made up from 80% recycled paper. They call it the Aleo 80, to compliment their Aleo 50 (which is not as Green but it is a step in the right direction says the firm).
Adrian Johnson (pictured), product manager at Antalis, said: “The addition of Aleo 80 to the range gives customers a greater choice of coated environmentally sound papers to choose from, without compromising on a quality finish.”
With banks and utility companies all feeling the pressure put on them by the media and the public to do their bit in the fight for a Greener world, we are finally seeing some worthwhile changes and it shows that everyone can help.
